I had chosen Shimla-Kufri as my summer escape this season as it’s very close to Delhi. Well, this was not the only reason but was one of the reasons. The other reasons were more justifiable to this heavenly place. And, you should not worry for your stay there as it’s very easy to find budget hotels in Shimla. I took a Volvo on Friday night which reached Shimla by the next morning. My first step in Shimla was mesmerizing and it was all hilly style homes all around. Well, we fixed a cab there for three day’s site seeing.
We started our experience with the blessing of Lord Hanuman. Jakhoo temple was the first place we visited. It is 2,455 m above the sea level and has the world’s largest Hanuman statue. The statue is visible from every corner of the city. Scenic view from this temple is such magnificent that it worth a bit of neck strain.
Ridge is the much popular point of Mall road that offers mesmerizing views of the city. We also found many local shops of handicrafts and hand-woven clothes, jewelries in the Mall road.
It is the oldest church of this town with neo-gothic architecture. The interior and exterior of this place put another star to the Mall road.
It is just 10Km away from main Shimla town and is official retreat residence of the Indian President. This building is a perfect example of Victorian architecture which was made back in 1850. We were not permitted to visit the interior part due to security guidelines. However, the outlook was as mesmerizing as the city.
The much-loved attraction is just 13 Km away from the town. We went to the meet-point by our cab there and then hired horses for remaining. The way to the top of Kufri Hills was beautiful with the site of wildflowers all around. Skiing hub is there on top of the hill and it was an adventures experience. It was snowy all around the Kufri and the views of Himalaya were added cherry to our trip.
On our way back from Kufri, we stopped at the Green Valleys. It was bliss to the eyes to witness such greenery and beauty. The minutes we spend there was that mesmerizing to make forget that we do not belong to here.
It was a small village located at a height of 2250m from sea level. This village is much known for hiking experience but what attracted us was its greenery. It was a perfect tourist experience with glimpse of nature every second.
The much-awaited part of our trip plan was to board into the toy train. It runs from Shimla to Kalka, but we only took it for few stations. Tickets were around hundred bucks but the joy was priceless. All the way through was full of amazing nature scenarios.
It was a small bird sanctuary yet had a nice collection of Himalayan birds. The Himachal state bird Monal Pheasant was there with its colorful appearance.
My best experience of Shimla was visiting to this Victorian-style architecture. It is up to the Observatory Hill and now converted into post-doc institutions. The building is a standing example of Scottish style building and has two different views from the rear and front side. An experience that is hard to explain in words.
THE THREE-DAY STAY:
In the peak season, it is hard to find a comfortable and reasonable stay in that town. However, we thank HotelBids for helping us to find budget hotels in Shimla. It was a homely experience to stay in the hilly hotel just at the end of Mall road. The stay, rooms, and foods were as awesome as the trip.
